ʼNamgis First Nation

Website

The Challenge

The ‘Namgis First Nation sought to redesign their website to better reflect their identity, values, and vision for the future. The previous site was no longer meeting the needs of the community – it lacked accessibility, was difficult to navigate, and didn’t effectively share the rich culture, governance, and priorities of the Nation. A key goal was to create a welcoming and functional online space for ‘Namgis members – whether living in the community or away from home.

The Approach

Guided by respect for the ‘Namgis culture and governance, we partnered with the Nation to create a digital platform that centers their voice and community needs. Early in the process, we worked with ‘Namgis leadership and administrators to identify priority content areas, explore visual identity elements, and ensure the site would serve as a vital communications tool.

The new website was built on WordPress with a focus on flexibility, usability, and long-term sustainability. Features include a responsive design for all devices, dedicated sections for governance, programs and services, news and events, and a structure that makes it easier for members to find information and stay connected. Visual design choices were made in close collaboration with the Nation to honour cultural elements and foster a sense of place and belonging.
